HIV testing: shouldn't it be easier to check for the virus?
In case you didn't know, as a physician you cannot just checkmark the box next to HIV test on a lab order sheet for your patient. You have to administer a separate consent form to your patients asking for their explicit permission to perform an HIV test. Considering we are now 25 years into the epidemic, 100 million lives affected, is this practice really helpful?
