Cancer is a general term describing a number of conditions in which a set of cells undergo indefinite, abnormal and accelerated growth in an uncontrolled manner. Although not all growth in the body is considered bad or
malignant
, some forms of cancer do invade other adjacent or distal tissues. This phenomenal is generally referred to as
metastasis
, a factor which makes cancer's prognosis less certain.
